
CEO & Chairman of the Board
As a founder of SSC Underground, an Arizona-based subsurface utility engineering and trenchless construction company, Marcia Veidmark has built more than 50 years of professional hands-on experience managing business operations in various capacities. From serving as General Manager, Corporate Secretary, Vice President of Operations, and President to her current role today as CEO and Chairman of the Board, Marcia has been instrumental in every aspect of the company.
Building upon her 20 years of experience as President where she provided executive leadership in areas including finance, field and plant operations, and administration, Marcia continues to lead the charge in being a key visionary for SSC. As CEO, this includes but is not limited to outlining strategic growth plans aligned with future opportunities to maximize SSC’s geographical reach across Arizona and its service offerings.
As evidenced by her diverse roles spanning several decades, Marcia possesses the unique expertise to guide the leading trenchless technology company for underground construction and consulting across the country. In fact, her advanced knowledge of Arizona’s business climate, construction industry, and economy have enabled her to effectively expand the company’s trenchless construction and vacuum excavation divisions. Her outstanding leadership has even been recognized on SSC’s 50th anniversary by a proclamation from Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego declaring October 23, 2019 as “SSC Underground Day.”
In addition to her business activities, Marcia remains active in the construction industry and community as a whole. She was the founding chairman of the North Mountain Business Alliance and serves on the North Mountain Village Planning Committee. Some other memberships she is passionate about are with the Women Presidents Organization and the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC). In response to the construction industry’s workforce shortage, SSC was the initial financial supporter of the Build Your Future Arizona campaign under Marcia’s leadership, and she continues to be a member of the BYFAZ steering committee.
Other memberships Marcia is involved in today are the Employers Council Board of Directors and Executive Committee and the Maricopa County Workforce Development Board. She was previously a member of the “PlanPHX Leadership Committee,” helping to craft the master plan of the city that she loves: Phoenix. Other past memberships she has held have been with the as well as the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors.
Marcia’s success in business and the community has been celebrated with several awards including Arizona State University’s “Spirit of Enterprise Award” for “Emerging Entrepreneur” in 2002, Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce’s “Small Business Award for Response to Adversity” in 2004, Construction Financial Management Association’s “Executive of the Year” in 2010, and “Phoenix Impact Volunteer” in 2016, among many others.
Education has been a life-long pursuit of Marcia’s including studying business at Azusa Pacific University, Northern Arizona University, and Western International University. She is also a graduate of the APS Academy for the Advancement of Small, Minority and Women-Owned Enterprise (AAAME) program. Since 1968, Marcia has been married to Arvid Veidmark Jr. and they have three sons and eight grandchildren. In her personal life, she is passionate about her Christian faith and church involvement as well as reading in her free time.
