Michelle Walker Positively Impacts SSC’s Culture
At SSC Underground, we have created a culture around our people. Every decision made at SSC is centered around how it will impact the whole team. Employees’ successes are always celebrated, whether the win is professional or personal.
The culture at SSC is deeply rooted in our core values; we use these values in interviews to determine right fit when hiring, they are used in employee evaluations for annual review, and we recognize employees who exemplify these values. Each month we focus on a value to discuss during team meetings how we can apply these values every day in everything we do as individuals and as a company.
With this strong foundation, SSC was able to sustain our culture through COVID. During these unprecedented times, the SSC team has made an effort to stay connected, sending out weekly team emails with messages of hope and positivity. The team has continued to meet as often as possible while still being safe, meeting in small groups outside, gathering in our warehouse socially distanced, and even meeting remotely with our virtual AV capabilities.
Our VP of Finance & Administration, Michelle Walker, is a big part of this employee-centric culture through her work creating and implementing training & development and employee recognition programs. She positively impacts employees by identifying their strengths and helping them further develop to advance personally and professionally.
One of Michelle’s proudest accomplishments is being a part of the creation of SSC’s Field Leadership Training Program. This professional training and development program for field crew leaders helps them do their job better, but also helps develop them as people and benefits them in all areas of their life. Michelle comments, “I think it’s one of our most tangible investments in helping them be all that they can be.”
SSC is proud of our people and value all the work they do! We hope to continue building on this culture that celebrates them as we grow as a company.
